A volatile week of trade looks like it could be capped off with solid closes in Ags. Bean futures faced heavy downward pressure all week though held support and have bounced. Corn futures have hung in a touch better and are attempting a breakout to fresh rally highs. New crop price movements in Chicago continue to favor a big shift to corn acres over beans this spring in the U.S. Despite a 55.75c selloff since Feb 5th, SH25 is +17c off yesterday's low with CH25 taking aim at new highs above $4.98 ½ and targeting a weekly finish above the psychological $5.00 level. New crop wise, we've got CZ25 1/2c from the $4.75 mark while SX25 eyes a $10.50+ close on a weekly basis. The U.S. corn market is unwilling to break until more is known about 2nd crop safrinha corn yield prospects in Brazil and U.S. farmers desire to plant 93 mil acres. Brazil's soybean harvest is set to kick into high gear with China mostly absent from the U.S. market.
