Excellence In Ag Scholarship 2024 Winners


Five area seniors pursuing agriculture-related degrees earn $2,000 scholarships

(DES MOINES, Iowa) April 30, 2024 — Landus announced five recipients of its $2,000 Excellence in Agriculture scholarship for high school seniors pursuing post-secondary education in an ag-related field.

The future is bright for students pursuing careers in this industry and we look forward to the impact these young people will make throughout their careers and in their communities,” said Matt Carstens, President & CEO, Landus. 

The Excellence in Agriculture Scholarship winners include: 

  • Kerrigan Larsen, daughter of Randy & Melanie Larsen of Audubon, Iowa; Audubon High School. Field of Study: Agricultural Studies from Iowa State University 
  • Charles Schon, son of Joey & Monica Schon of Coon Rapids, Iowa; Glidden-Ralston High School. Field of study: Agricultural Business at Des Moines Area Community College 
  • Mattie Nielsen, daughter of Robert & Kristie Nielsen of Hamlin, Iowa; Audubon High School. Field of study: Pre-Veterinary at the University of South Dakota 
  • Cecelia Rowe, daughter of Tanner & Laura Rowe of Minburn, Iowa; Dallas Center-Grimes High School. Field of study: Agricultural Leadership at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln 
  • Chance Schultes, son of Richard & Denise Schultes of Dedham, Iowa; Coon Rapids-Bayard High School. Field of study: Animal Business at Des Moines Area Community College

About the scholarship: 

  • Applicant and/or parent (guardian) must be a voting member (Class A) in good standing of Landus, account number required. 
  • Applicant must be a high school senior graduating in the spring of the 2023/2024 school year. 
  • Applicant must have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or greater on a 4.0 scale. 
  • Applicant must pursue a career in an agriculture or life sciences field of study attending the accredited post-secondary school of his or her choice. 
  • Dependents of directors and officers of Landus are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
