2.2 million bushels of new grain storage going in just south of Collins; slated to open for Harvest 2018
Landus Cooperative today announced construction has begun on a $13.7 million grain asset near Collins, Iowa.
Slated to be complete for harvest, the more than 15-acre site will include 2.2 million bushels of storage via three new 105-foot diameter bins in addition to existing bunker capacity. The asset is located at the cooperative’s existing site at the intersection of Highway 65 and 210, one mile south of Collins.

“This grain site was designed with the farmer’s future needs in mind,” explained Landus Cooperative’s Chief Executive Officer, Milan Kucerak of the engineering planning. “Building a site with tremendous receiving ability to get our farmers quickly back to the field at harvest was the number one priority for our members in Story County,” added Kucerak.
The facility will boast two 27 foot long receiving pits and 40,000 bushel per hour receiving legs which allow a triple axel grain semi to unload both hoppers at the same time creating the speed, and convenience farmers demand at harvest.
“It will be tough to overload the receiving pits with grain even at the peak of harvest,” explained Kucerak. “We’ll get you unloaded as fast as your rig will let you.”
Additional items that will enhance on plant experience for members include separate inbound and outbound scales and automated load-out that allows this operation to occur during harvest without competing with member trucks for scale access. A new office building is also slated.
