Landus Cooperative Announces Recipients for 2018 “Excellence in Agriculture” Scholarship

Five area seniors pursuing agriculture related degrees earn $2,000 scholarships 

(AMES, Iowa) April 30, 2018 —Landus Cooperative today announced five recipients of its $2,000 Excellence in Agriculture scholarship for high school seniors pursuing post-secondary education in an ag-related field.

“Landus Cooperative is proud to support scholarships and learning experiences to help prepare students for the future challenges the agriculture industry will present,” said chief executive officer, Milan Kucerak as he expressed his encouragement for these students. “These young men and women are the future of the agriculture industry,” Kucerak added.

The Excellence in Agriculture winners include:

  • Cale Pellett, son of Bret and Lindsay Pellett of Atlantic; senior at Atlantic High School. Field of study: Agricultural Business and Economics at Iowa State University.
  • Jared Feldman, son of Troy and Teresa Feldman of Greene; senior at North Butler High School. Field of study: Agriculture Studies at Iowa State University.
  • Hannah Seil, daughter of Randy and Shari Seil of Lohrville; senior at South Central Calhoun High School. Field of study: Veterinarian Technician at Iowa Lakes Community College.
  • McKenna Nielsen, daughter of Randy and Melanie Nielsen of Audubon; senior at Audubon High School. Field of study: Agriculture Studies at Morningside College
  • Thomas Demers, son of David and Georgia Demers of Storm Lake; senior at Storm Lake High School. Field of study: Agriculture Systems Technology at Iowa State University.

About the scholarship:

  • Applicant and/or parent must be a voting member (Class A) in good standing of Landus Cooperative.
  • Applicant must be a high school senior graduating in the spring of the 2018 school year.
  • Applicant must have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.
  • Applicant must pursue a career in an agriculture or life sciences field of study attending the accredited post-secondary school of his or her choice.
  • Dependents of directors and officers of Landus Cooperative are not eligible to apply for these scholarships.
