Rural Matters: Honoring Bill Northey

Rural Matters Bill Northey

The state of Iowa and the agriculture industry continue to mourn the loss of Bill Northey, a remarkable leader and staunch advocate for agriculture, farmers, and rural communities. His untimely passing this month leaves a void felt deeply by all who knew him, including our Landus family.

At Landus we had the honor of witnessing Bill’s unwavering dedication to advancing sustainable agriculture and enhancing rural prosperity. As a passionate supporter of farmers and rural communities, his leadership resonated far beyond state borders, leaving an indelible mark on the industry he loved. But Bill's impact extended beyond policy and practice—it was felt in the warmth of his smile, the strength of his handshake, and the sincerity of his words. He was more than a colleague; he was a mentor, a confidant, and a friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bill embodied the true spirit of public service—selflessness, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to the common good. His leadership was evident in his ability to unite diverse groups to address challenges and focus on the future. The Landus team is profoundly grateful to Bill for his invaluable contributions as a former advisor to our board of directors. We recognize that his guidance made our organization, and the communities we serve, stronger.  We extend our deepest sympathies and heartfelt gratitude to his family during this trying time and urge others to honor his remarkable legacy of leadership and service to Iowa.
