Is post-partum calcium supplementation doing what you think?

Recent literature shows supplementing calcium post-partum helps subgroups of cows but suggests it might be detrimental to the health and production of others. Join Dr. Jessica McArt, DVM, PhD, during this live presentation to learn why.

Dr. McArt will review recent literature and reveal exciting new work from Cornell, as well as challenge some long-standing assumptions about post-partum calcium therapies.

Topics will include:

  • How post-partum calcium supplementation therapies impact blood calcium
  • How post-partum calcium therapies impact health and production
  • The importance of negative DCAD diets in preparing the cow for the big calcium demand at calving
  • Suggestions for design of future transition cow calcium research trials
