Landus Capital Investments

June 20, 2023

In our 2022 annual report, we highlighted our pledge to invest $84.1 million back into our locations to better serve our farmer-owners. In this episode of the GROW Podcast, join host, Ashley Kaldenberg with guests, Mark Miner, chief investment officer, and Jon Setterdahl, product and services leader, as they cover how that money is used to help strategic Landus locations.

Investments in the co-op world used to be focused on speed and space. It was a coined phrase that outlined the investments that made a co-op successful. Today, we’ve shifted into an insights and infrastructure model that focuses on information and strategic location updates that not only help the cooperative grow, but more importantly elevate the farmers that we work with.

Join Mark, Jon, and Ashley as they dive into how the decisions are made regarding what locations get what updates and how locations near you may be getting upgrades in the near future.

Solutions For Today’s Farmer - Grain Episode

June 06, 2023

Nearly two years after announcing our GROW Solutions Center, Jamie Orr, GROW Agronomy Lead, and Janette Smith, GROW Grain Lead, join Ashley on the podcast this week to share GSC’s accomplishments thus far and discuss how they are putting farmers’ needs at the forefront of Landus. With a growing virtual team made up of agronomists, grain marketers, and data analysts, the Landus GROW Solutions Center is making it easier than ever to connect with growers and answer any questions they may have. “[Farmers] aren’t working 9-5. They start their mornings early and they finish their nights late. They work weekends. So, the virtual team helps them be better. We’re here to answer their questions...It’s just about being there when the farmer needs you most.” - Janette Smith, GROW Grain Lead While the GROW Solutions Center continues to serve as a form of constant communication, it has also been used as a tool to establish meaningful relationships between Landus and our farmer-owners. Making it known that we are there to support growers every step of the way has been a major goal. With over 3,700 grain accounts and 95% of agronomy customers contacted, it is safe to say their team is doing just that. Jamie explains that by reaching out, Landus is better able to understand and serve the farmer of tomorrow; one that has a succession plan, operates sustainably, and is self-sufficient. The GROW Solutions Center compliments the field team to help growers meet the market demands of the future. What’s Affecting Your Emergence? - Agronomy Episode

May 23, 2023

The agronomy trio is back in the very first on-location GROW Podcast. John King (@JMKINGLANDUS), optimization and procurement lead; Dan Bjorklund (@DanielBjorklun9), technical agronomy and precision lead; and Brad Sherwin, technical agronomist, welcome GROW Podcast listeners to the Jefferson Seed Center. With an estimated 89% of Iowa’s corn in the ground, and surrounding states reporting similar numbers, there’s no better backdrop than pallets of chemicals at our updated Jefferson location. The gang dives into the Taranis data that’s helping farmers scout their acres with drones, how practices are benefiting the farmers in the future, and much more. Taranis launched with Landus High Yield Learning Groups earlier this year. Farmers who signed up for the Taranis AcreForward technology got access to data designed to help farmers quickly identify and visualize stand count, weed pressure, diseases, insect damage, and nutrient deficiencies. In this episode, Landus agronomists dive deeper into the obstacles that come with no-till and vertical-till practices and the top insects to be concerned with this season. Explore these topics and more in this week’s GROW Podcast. Stay tuned to the GROW Podcast for the most up-to-date chemical and fertilizer market insights.
