March was one of the warmest on record, averaging 6.2 degrees above normal.

April had planting progress off to a slower start than normal this spring season in most of Iowa due to unseasonably cool and wet conditions, followed by a recent shift toward drier weather that is allowing field activities to accelerate. The close-range forecast is cooler and wetter than normal.

With current conditions combining inconsistent temperatures and excessive rainfall, planting delays and establishment challenges are being seen in both corn and soybeans. These conditions can favor disease and pest pressures while exerting abiotic stress on the crop. Continued excess rainfall can expose nutrient loss of certain nutrients in the soil.

Below are some key products that help mitigate environmental stress, enhance overall plant health, and protect in-season application of nutrients.

CropLift® with CropPWR®

• Improves the crop tolerance to environmental stress while enhancing overall plant performance driving greater yields. Include CropLift® with your post herbicide applications to reduce the impact of current weather rollercoaster.

MicroEdge® Sulfur with CropPWR®

• Foliar sulfur source providing available nutrients to the crop. Early vegetative growth stages in crops can exhibit sulfur deficiencies due to cooler wet soils. MicroEdge® Sulfur is designed to feed the plant and has 10% CropPWR® to help mitigate environmental stress.
• Apply 1-2 qt/acre with post herbicide applications

Halcyon

• Systemic fungicide and bactericide utilize poly-phosphite technology that strengthens plant vigor and supports improved stalk strength, standability and harvest efficiency.

• Halcyon can be applied in-furrow at planting and/or foliar at post herbicide timing to corn or soybeans to protect against soilborne pathogens like Rhizoctonia, Pythium, Fusarium, Anthracnose, White Mold, and others.
• In-furrow: 16-24 oz/acre at planting
• Post herbicide: 24 oz/acre with post herbicide applications
